Hunting Extinction

Well, amazingly, Hank, Imogenand Alek had escaped the explosion of the *High Cloister*, the Inquisitions gigantic spaceship. Hank also hoped that Lara and Clynt also escaped in one of the many escape pods that had rapidly shot out of the spaceship just before it exploded. Also, with him was the Sector Governor Vince Delfina, although he was definitely in shock and could barely respond to anything around him.

Now they needed to get off this unknown planet. They didn’t know much about where they were, but if they had managed to land here, then surely some of the terrifiedy Inquisition Master and Acolytes could also have landed. Hank preferred to not run into any of them right now. But, of course Hanks preference didn’t matter and they soon found themselves in a fight.

But eventually, they manage to get to higher ground hoping to find a relay station with a functioning communication setup so they could contact the *Buzzard* and get rescued. They did just that and managed to reach Ned aboard the *Buzzard*. He told Hank that Lara and Clynt had been previously rescued and were back at their abandoned spacestation safe and sound. Now that he had Hank and company’s location, he was on his way and would be there shortly.

Luck would have it that a spaceship got to Hank’s location before Ned. This spaceship unfortunately belonged to the Consortium so the SPres grabbed Hank and his friends and placed them in cells aboard their ship. Hank and Imogen found themselves in the same cell but couldn’t see Governor Delfina. Hank was worried that they were headed straight to prison. Fortuantely for both of them, that’s not what happened.

Once they landed, a Prefect came to release them from their cell. He lead them through an ornate building that certainly wasn’t a prison. Soon they met up with Albert Hush, Imogen’s father. Of course he was a pompous idiot that thought his daughter had betrayed him by leaving the Inqusition. Imogen told him how they had treated her including the torture and other depravations, but Mr. Hush didn’t care. All he cared about was how badly she had tarnished his reputation. He said Imogen would be going right back to where he had placed her and Hank would go to prison.

About that time, Sector Govenor Delfinia came marching into with his security team that included Alek. The Govenor said they he needed Hank and Imogen to come with him since they had important information for the Consortium. So, they go on his shuttle and flew to the Govenor’s offices. There they felt safe and started making plans on how to defeat Coedname:Extinction. The Governor now knew that the Inquisition was not an organization helping his fellow citizens. They had gone too far and were going to have to be delt with. He was in a position to do so, but needed some addition information about the enemy Hand and company had presented to him.

So, now that Imogen was back with his group, she gave them the location of Codename:Extinction. Back at the secret spacestation base, Hank told everyone, including the Peacers, that they would be needed to defeat this enemy. But first, they needed to do some recon and find out just what they were up against.

At long last, Hank and his small fleet arrive at the location of Codename:Extinction. That find it a small spacestation that doesn’t appear that dangerous. Only when they begin approaching do they notice all the spaceship that start flowing from the facility. They are way too many enemies for Hanks bunch to successfully attack and survive, so they gather as much data as possible and head back to their base.

Now it’s just a matter of reviewing the information they gathered to see if it’s enough. They do find out the location of a seemingly abandoned space facility that needs to be investigated. So Hank and a few of his friends go in the *Buzzard* to see what this place is about. What they learn there is even more alarming than they had figured. The now knew that the enemy has already sent altered humans back into the Consortium that he had control of and was directing their actions.

Hank needed more firepower. He felt the coming battle to defeat Codename:Extinction was going to take everything they had including any Consortuim military assets that Govenor Delfina could muster. Yet, the Governor was going to have to plow through the political process and it could take time. Too much time!

Hank had to find new and more allies. Just where was he going to do that. Everyone assumed that Hank would figure this out and that was worrying Hank because he had no clue.

Surprisinly, this isn’t the end of this series. I thought it might end here, but I was wrong. So, you’ll find the story continuing in book 7, “Fractured Consortium”, now available on Amazon.
